Packing advice

How to pack a house for moving

A room-by-room approach makes a big packing job more manageable.

Start with what you don’t use every day

Begin with seasonal belongings, spare rooms and items you can manage without. Declutter first so you spend time and materials only on things you want to take.

Build a sensible packing kit

Use sound boxes, packing tape, cushioning and a marker. Keep heavier items in smaller boxes, and don’t fill a carton beyond what it can safely carry.

Pack one room at a time

Group similar items, wrap delicate pieces individually and fill empty spaces so things cannot move around easily. Label the room and contents on more than one side.

Leave the essentials until last

Keep a separate bag for documents, medication, chargers and first-night essentials. Ask about our packing service if you need more help before moving day.
